Description
How can we genuinely involve local people in our work? How can we make sure people have a good time and want to do more? How can we make sure their involvement works for us too? This interactive and very popular event will provide you with methods for increasing the involvement of local people in environmental projects. Using lessons from our own work, the day begins by looking at what encourages people to get involved and ends by designing involvement opportunities in your own projects and activities.
The event will be of interest to staff working in environmental and countryside situations who work with communities as part of their job, including community forest staff, rangers, rights of way and access staff, project managers, field and project officers, woodland officers, rural community councils and local authority staff. It is also suitable for volunteers and members of voluntary groups who want to increase their membership. It will be most suitable for people at project officer level who have some experience, but those new in post who would like to gain insight and ideas for working with communities will find plenty to inspire them.
