BULLACE (WILD PLUM)*

A small deciduous tree, it was first introduced for its fruit and has escaped, especially into hedgerows and woodland margins, probably from stones dropped by birds. Groups of white flowers appear with the leaves in April/May followed by purple fruit (Damsons).
