- This 'flag iris' is found in ditches, by rivers and in marshes. It needs full sun to flower and is effective when planted around a pond or boggy border. It's spread can be controlled by thinning the rhizomes which are part above and part below ground. It is used as a 'ladder' or 'perch' by water insects.
